Stories of Tradition and Love: A Timeless Wedding at Praya Pallazo

Updated: Sep 27

February 16 was a day like no other. The sun had barely graced the horizon when we found ourselves on the banks of Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River, preparing for a wedding steeped in both tradition and deep familial connection. The venue? Praya Pallazo, a charming riverside mansion whose timeless elegance matched perfectly with the love story of Scarlett and Suthasan, a couple whose journey spans cultures and continents.

Before Sunrise: A Moment of Stillness

It was 4 a.m., and while most of Bangkok still slept, Scarlett was quietly preparing for her first glimpse of the day. There was something incredibly intimate about that moment. Scarlett wasn’t just wearing any wedding dress – she had chosen to wear Suthasan’s mother’s dress, a symbol of family bonds and tradition passed down through generations. The air was still, and there was a calmness in the room as she got ready, the anticipation building for what was to come.

Outside, the sky was starting to shift from the inky darkness of night to the soft pastels of dawn. As the first light kissed the river, Scarlett and Suthasan stood by the poolside for their Monk Blessing ceremony. The peaceful sound of the water, the monks' soft chanting, and the warm glow of the sunrise painted a scene we knew would be unforgettable. It was one of those moments where everything came together so effortlessly – a serene backdrop to the beginning of their new chapter.

An Afternoon of Family Blessings and Tradition

By the afternoon, the atmosphere had transformed. Scarlett and Suthasan, now dressed in the soft pink hues of traditional Thai royal wedding attire, embodied elegance. Suthasan’s Thai-Punjabi roots and Scarlett’s Sabahan heritage from Kota Marudu beautifully blended into this moment, with traditions woven from both families.

Surrounded by their closest family members, the couple received blessings, uniting both sides in a way that felt deeply personal yet grand. Every gesture, every word exchanged was filled with emotion. It’s moments like these, where love and tradition intertwine, that remind us why we do this work. The simple act of a family member offering their blessing held the weight of generations of culture, love, and respect.

Soft laughter mixed with the quiet reverence of the ceremony as rings were exchanged. This wasn’t just a formal exchange; it was the culmination of two lives coming together in the most authentic way, surrounded by love.

Portraits on the River: A Blend of Timeless Beauty

After the ceremony, we moved through the beautiful halls of Praya Pallazo, using its architecture as a stunning backdrop for Scarlett and Suthasan’s portrait session. The mansion itself seemed to hold stories of its own, with every arch and column adding depth to the couple’s timeless look. The soft pink of their attire perfectly complemented the vintage details of the space, creating portraits that felt like they belonged in a different era, yet completely theirs.

One of the most memorable moments came as we boarded the boat, cruising along the Chao Phraya River. Scarlett and Suthasan, still wrapped in the excitement of their day, looked out over the water, their smiles reflecting the sunlight that danced across the surface. It was peaceful, almost poetic – a perfect contrast to the whirlwind of events. As they traveled the river together, much like they have done around the world as pilots, we captured moments of quiet love, the city of Bangkok as their backdrop.

A Love Story Beyond a Day

What struck us most about Scarlett and Suthasan’s wedding wasn’t just the stunning attire, the beautiful venue, or even the meticulously planned events. It was the feeling that surrounded the entire day – the sense of connection. Scarlett’s decision to wear Suthasan’s mother’s dress, the meaningful ceremonies that honored both of their heritages, and the blending of families from different backgrounds – it was all a reminder that weddings are more than just an event. They’re a bridge between past and future, where love, tradition, and family come together to create a story that will last a lifetime.

As we left Praya Pallazo that evening, we couldn’t help but feel grateful to have been part of Scarlett and Suthasan’s journey. There’s something truly special about being entrusted with these moments, capturing not just the events but the feelings behind them. It’s days like this that remind us why we love what we do – turning these moments into stories that will live on, far beyond the day itself.
